Nature speaks - we listen and translate

The term AgriBio Tech or agricultural biotechnology is used to summarize the scientific disciplines that deal with the breeding and genetic optimization of crops and microorganisms. The applied techniques range from genetic engineering and molecular diagnostics to the development of new resistant plant varieties and vaccines. By focusing on more resistant and higher-yielding plant species, the use of pesticides can be significantly reduced and the food supply for people in inhospitable regions can be secured.

Smart AgriBio Tech also includes topics from the "smart farming" area. This involves, for example, the use of sensors that analyze the nutritional values in the soil and recognize at an early stage which nutritional values need to be added or which steps are necessary to avert harmful developments (e.g. pest infestation, overwatering). In an automated system, steps such as fertilization or irrigation can be initiated automatically and the farmer only has to monitor the measures, for example via app.

Smart AgriBio Tech also has a great potential to close knowledge gaps where comprehensive agricultural training is not available. With the help of sensor values, recommendations for action could be derived even if the farmer lacks the knowledge to do so. AgriBio Tech will make it possible in the future to cultivate more targeted, automated and, in conjunction with solar energy production, also energetically sustainable fields.
